“You know babe, when I lay here on your couch and listen to you work with that screen reader in Google Search Console, all I can think is, ‘Why doesn’t this guy have a bottle of Tylenol or Advil right on his desk to help with the headache’. That sounds painful!”
Then, Julia continued, “And what’s with Google making people have to go fish for URLs and things to access other aspects of the Search Console? That whole setup looks like the horse’s ass.”
Julia then got up off the couch and was looking over my shoulder at this point. She Nuzzled my neck saying, “I guess the game plan here is reintroduce your websites back into the Google Search Console and see if Bing picks up on it?”
I nodded. She chuckled and then said, “Clever.” She then began kissing my neck saying, “And for the record, I’m glad you’re not hooked on Tylenol or Advil. I prefer being your headache cure.”
Then, she gave me one last kiss on the cheek before stepping out of my study. She was off to do more virtual sessions in her study. I think she had like three more to go to finish off the day.
So, in the meantime, I got caught up on my bills and took care of some budgeting stuff that I’d been putting off for a couple of days. I did some more tutorial reading on Audacity before beginning work on getting a fresh start with the Google Search Console. Cleaning up the mess, so to speak.
The woman’s got a point. The way Google does things seems to be half assed backwards. I’m not sure if complication is done by design or if it’s just the way they do things since their constantly changing things under the hood.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been getting messages in both the old Webmaster Tools and the Google Search Console section that they’re updating for a new look or they’re improving their services. They always seem to be doing something. Every time I see one of those messages, I kind of laugh to myself and say, “Hoom. Will I ever be lucky enough to see a message that says, ‘We are improving our accessibility for screen readers’?”
But… Given Google’s track record… And the track record of a lot of other corporations… “I won’t hold my breath on that one.”
I doubt that will ever happen. But… Maybe since Google’s formed a partnership with Microsoft… “They’ll actually surprise me.”
