I Am the Recipient of Public Displays of Affection.

“You got Zelle working I see!” Julia called from her study. She then came to my study doorway saying, “I hope you didn’t hurt your hand on the desk,” she added warmly. “Why don’t we go outside for a few minutes and get some air?”

I nodded getting up saying, “Sorry about the expletives. Hopefully your client didn’t here that.”

Julia laughed as she began pulling me towards the front porch saying warmly, “Actually they did and started laughing. Your timing couldn’t have been more perfect.”

As we sat, Julia took my hand in hers and holding it with one and lightly stroking it with her other, she gazed at me intensely and asked, “Trouble with the app? Or was it something else?”

“I was having trouble getting through to PNC about a problem with the app,” I replied flatly. “They’ve got a bunch of stuff you need to use the touch pad on the phone for and…”

Julia cut me off with a kiss saying, “I get it. You have trouble using it fast enough for their system to accept things and the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard you use doesn’t always work with the phone as expected because the keyboard isn’t an Apple product. We should probably do something for you about that one of these days. I think we might be able to cover it with this year’s million-dollar slush fund,” Julia finished playfully.

Julia then gave me another kiss as she put a finger on my wrist and breathed, “That’s better.” I looked at her and asked, “What’s better?”

Julia giggled and said, “Oh nothing. I was just thinking out loud.”

Then, before I could say anything she suddenly planted one of her speech stopping, breath taking, tonsil cleaning kisses on me. My head was spinning when she finally came up for air. Then, without warning, Julia suddenly sprang to her feet, pulling me along with her towards the RAM saying, “Dinner’s on me! Let’s go!”

“Um… Jackets Julia?” I said weakly, still feeling a bit disoriented. Julia laughed saying, “Don’t worry. I’ve got this.”

My wife is clever and sneaky at times. When she brought our jackets out to the RAM is beyond me. But they were laying on the center console when I got in, Julia laughing when she saw the look on my face as she slipped behind the wheel.

“I’ve got us a corner booth at the Hampton diner,” Julia said. She then laughed slyly saying, “Think intimate thoughts,” as she let her hand wander to my side of the truck.

I nodded saying, “With you? That’s never a problem.” And… Dinner certainly was a sensual affair. But… It felt good and somehow Julia had made everything feel safe, even though the joint was packed with people.

She’s not shy about showing affection for me in public in general. But… When she playfully slipped under the table at one point, when no one was looking… Well… It felt good but… Had our waitress showed up at the wrong time…

Of course, I probably should have guessed she had an arrangement with the waitress, too. But Julia doesn’t share all her secrets, “Which certainly makes life interesting!”

The level of confidence Julia has when it comes to intimacy in public places should probably give me a clue. But… Lately… I’ve been rather clueless and just a bit slow on the uptake at times. It was a fun dinner though, Julia giggling from time to time saying, “You’re in good hands. You’re safe here. I’ve got this. All will go well.”

And… You know what? “She’s always been right!”
