“Brian Google? Is that really even a person’s full name?”
I guess I’d been talking in my sleep again. And, when I opened my eyes I was nose to nose with my wife, who gently traced a finger down a cheek bone on my face before lightly kissing me and saying, “Welcome back from Dream Land Babe. I’m glad it was an amusing trip for you this time around.”
“What’s that?” I asked groggily. “You were laughing in your sleep just before you woke up,” Julia said with a warm glow in her voice. “Oh,” I said, rubbing my eyes and trying to wake up. “I was having a dream in which Ellen’s brother Mark was stopping by to quote me a price on cleaning gutters.”
“On this house?” Julia asked me. “No,” I replied. “It was the house on 41 Appleseed Road I lived in for about five years.”
“You dream about that place a lot,” Julia said. “Do you miss it? Living there I mean?”
“Not really,” I said. “It served it’s purpose at the time. But… That time came and went and I’m much happier right where we are now.”
She kissed me tenderly for a long moment and then, without a word she pulled back the covers and indicated with her hands that she wanted me to get out of bed. She then walked with me to the bathroom door and said softly, “I’ll be waiting on the love seat when you get done. Take your time.”
So… After a quick rinse in the shower and a few other things, I was back with her about twenty minutes later. She handed me a coffee and my cellphone saying, “You don’t usually get text messages on Saturday morning’s so I’m thinking it must be important.”
I looked at her blankly and she said gently, “It’s 6:15 AM.” She then laughed and said, “Is it your mistress?”
She then leaned over and gave me a gentle kiss, tracing my neck and shoulder line with a finger as she did so. “You know that gives me goose bumps all over, right?” I asked her laughing.
“That’s what I’m hoping Babe. Uh… That and I’m hoping it gives you a few other things, too,” she finished slyly.
I chuckled softly and unlocked my phone and asked Siri to read the message that had arrived. The text read, “We heard about what happened yesterday afternoon and are glad to know you and your wife are ok. If there is anything you guys need, don’t hesitate to aske.”
The message then disappeared from my phone with a sound that kind of reminded me of playing an Atari game called asteroids; the sound being the one the game used to make when you lost and it was game over. I then put my phone down and looked at Julia for a long moment. Then I took my coffee off the small end table near me and downed it in one.
“Those guys don’t miss a trick,” I said. “They are probably monitoring you from a respectful distance Love, which isn’t a bad thing,” Julia responded quietly. “Yesterday could have gone wrong in so many ways. There were four of them and one of you. We’re both blessed that things worked out the way they did,” she said, kissing me again.
“Now,” she said, slipping off the couch and onto the floor. “Why don’t you just lean back and make yourself comfortable for a while and I’ll take care of the rest?”
I nodded settling back with my feet spread wide apart on the floor, on either side of my wife’s knees as she knelt before me. “You do spoil me a lot and I’m not even sure I deserve it.”
“Nonsense,” she said quietly. “Now… Uh… Let me see here… Uhm… This looks yummy!”
It was pure bliss. And that was only the first five minutes. The rest after that was paradise times ten.
We did get around after a few hours, my lady needing to pay a visit to her therapist at 10:00 AM. I offered to ride along with her and wait in the truck. But she suggested I catch a few more winks while she was out. “You slept soundly last night Babe but you still look a little tired. I’ll be back before you know it. Thanks for the offer though.”
She then kissed me and was on her way. So, I went into my study and stretched out on my couch in there, listening to some meditation music and dropped off into a deep sleep for at least another two hours.
When I awoke, I smelled pizza. A minute later Julia appeared in the doorway of my study as I sat up, swinging my feet down to the floor. “You look much better and I really like the track your playing. I picked up some lunch for us on the way home. Come eat with me?”
I joined her at the lunch table and she told me she had shown her therapist the audio meditation for relaxation we had made. She said, “My therapist really liked it and wanted to know if we could make more to help people deal with different issues.”
“What did you tell her?” I asked. Julia said with a warm glow in her voice, “I told her my man is very talented and we could probably come up with a custom meditation recording that fits whatever requirement a client might have. So… My therapist said they would be interested in trying guided meditation recordings with a few of their clients and would get back to me about it in the near future, which in their terms is generally about two weeks.”
“Cool!” I said. Julia then stood and took our empty plates to the sink while I began cleaning up the other odds and ends on the table.
Once everything was clear, Julia came up to me and pulled me into a hug saying, “I’m glad you feel the way you do about doing more of those recordings. To be honest, I felt a little funny committing you to more projects like that without talking with you about it first. Thank you.”
We spent the afternoon touching up around the house a bit and running a few loads of laundry. While in between folding and putting loads in the washer and drier, I ran a diagnostic on a clients computer for them, since they weren’t using it today. Fortunately, the machine was only running sluggish because a file optimization hadn’t been run on the hard drive for a while. However, after doing that and updating a few things… Well… Let’s just say that my client won’t have a problem with the end result come Monday morning.
Dinner came and went, me cooking a few steaks on the grill while Julia worked on getting a salad together. It didn’t take that long, and with both of us working on dinner, “It was served in no time.”
Then, we just chilled in the living room for a while listening to music and snuggling on the couch. It was a quiet evening in a magical sort of way. Something in the air gave it a shimmery quality. At least, that’s the way it felt to me.
When I decided to come in here and start writing Julia was out cold. And… I really think at this point it’s time for me to cart her off to bed. So… Yeah… “I’m out of here!”
