“You’d have made an excellent dad, you know? I know why you didn’t have kids and I don’t regret not having any either but… You’d have done well from what I heard from one or two of your Ex’s.”
I was just waking up when I heard the above and simply gave the gorgeous creature laying over top of me like a warm blanket a gentle squeeze. I didn’t want to move and was totally enjoying the moment, early morning silence and all.
Julia then giggled softly and lightly kissed my lips saying, “I’m happy with things as they are. I’m happy with you as you are, too, just for the record. So… You can wipe that intense look of contemplation off your face, get your ass in gear and make sure you give your wife some loving before you get on the phone with your dad, who no doubt has another twenty computer questions for you by now.”
So… I did. And… Dad was more than happy not to be doing anything computer related today deciding that, aside from answering the house phone he was totally switched off electronically for the day.
Julia and I took the boat out for a spin on Lake Wallenpaupack late in the afternoon, having spent most of the morning and early afternoon screwing around the house, “Quite Literally at times.” Some would say marrying a woman that is nearly two decades younger than you are isn’t a bright idea. But Julia isn’t your average woman physically or mentally and we are evenly matched. So… It just works.
It was nice being out on the water with her as the sun set. We both felt a calm wash over us as day faded into night and, if it wasn’t for the fact that we had obligations at home, we’d probably have sailed for most of the night before finding a place to crash.
But we got the boat back on its trailer and arrived home around 11:00 PM. Of course, going to sleep right away just wasn’t happening.
However… Us being us… Finding a nice relaxing way to wind down wasn’t a problem. “Body chemistry is an excellent sleep tonic, don’t you know.”
