Julia and I both finished up work today at around 4:00 PM and then we did something we haven’t done in a while. We sat on our front porch and watched it rain.
Around 5:00 PM Julia went inside and ordered us a Sicilian pizza from A&G on lower Spring Street in Newton NJ. We sat outside on the porch and just hung for a while, as we waited for the pizza and things really started to cool down.
In a way, we were kind of relieved that the pizza guy showed up because, while it’s nice to sit there holding hands listening to the sounds of nature, “We were starting to get a little chilled through to the bone.” So, he gave us our pie. We gave him his tip. And… “Then we sent him on his merry way.”
It’s kind of funny when they get in their car and realize what they were actually handed. And… The exclamation of, “Holy Crap!” is always a welcome thing to hear. “We do like to keep our delivery people happy!”
After we ate and cleaned up, Julia and I went into my study and finished reading the rest of Clive Cussler’s Iceberg. She stayed awake through the whole thing but quickly departed from reality as I got up to turn off the book and put the computer to sleep for the night.
So… Here I am doing my own version of journaling… But really wishing I could be sleeping on the couch over there, “With her.”
