Well… My mom went to the pulmonologist today and got the shock of her life. The practice was shut down.
Apparently, the good doctors that ran the place had some sort of deal going whereby they were exaggerating/misdiagnosing people intentionally, if not making them sicker than they already were for a profit. She said to me on the phone, “They were certain that my problem was reversible under the guidance of a competent professional.” So… Rather than her usual appointment, she got an interview, in which she was informed that she would need to visit a different doctor who was more than willing to help her get better.
I was stunned and part of me was pissed as hell. I’d already begun to suspect that she was being misled and, while pleased that it’s all finally getting worked out, felt like I’d been punched in the gut with what I was hearing. The medical investigators also informed her that counseling was available for her and Dad courtesy of the US Department of Justice. She’s actually thinking of taking them up on that, which is a good thing.
When I got off the phone, I found Julia standing behind me as I sat at my desk. She had heard the conversation, as my phone was on speaker. When she spoke, her voice was full of concern as she leaned down with her hands on my shoulders and softly asked, “Are you ok?”
When I shook my head yes, she took my hands in hers and made an upward motion, indicating I should stand. When I rose from my desk, she gave me a big hug and whispered, “That was quite a shock. A good thing but a shock all the same. I can’t imagine what you are feeling right now.”
Julia then walked out of my office, pulling me towards the bedroom wordlessly indicating she wanted to sit with me on the love seat. “I didn’t mean to intrude,” Julia said. I did a double take when I was on my way to ask you something about my computer system. When I asked what she wanted to know she ran her fingers through my hair saying, “It’s nothing important. It will keep.”
She then just sat there, running her fingers through my hair for a long time, slipping a gentle kiss into the mix now and again. She finally broke the long silence before asking, “What can I do?” I looked at her for a moment, noticing as I did so that I seemed to be able to see her more clearly today, before answering, “Just hold me for a little while?”
She said, “That I can do.” She then moved so that I could stretch out on the love seat. Then she straddled my thighs with her legs so that she could cover me with her body, looking up into my face and her arms under mine, her gently gripping me this way with her arms and legs. She stretched her head up for a long kiss saying, “I’ve got you.”
I couldn’t help but smile a little when she said that and then closed my eyes. I must have fallen asleep for a time because the room seemed dark when I opened my eyes again. As my senses came back online, I felt her lips against mine, complete with a little tongue action before she asked, “Can I take you to dinner?” I thought about it a second before saying, “Yes,” and then, “Thank you.” She laughed and said, “Any time my dear. Anything for my man.” She then gave me a squeeze with her body before moving so we could get ready to head out.
We went to the Hampton Diner and were taken care of by a new waitress, who used to work at the Sit and Chat over in Sussex. She was a lot of fun and handled the kitchen’s screw up (they forgot our order) in stride, making sure we had drinks at least while we waited.
After that, we came back here and just relaxed; her finally asking the computer question she had for me and me telling her about the latest book I read on Human Energetics. I then walked in here to write this, and she is in the shower.
She says she’s got a surprise for me when I come back to bed and I’m thinking it might be something slinky and silky from the tone in her voice. So… Not wanting to disappoint… “We’ll just leave it here.”
