“Baby? Please come to bed and help a pretty girl unwind? Please?”
These words were softly spoken in my ear at around 8:30 PM as I worked on a video presentation for a client using Microsoft 365 PowerPoint. Julia had her therapy appointment this morning and then met with a few old college girlfriends who were in the area for lunch.
Apparently, they decided to do some shopping together afterword in the Trade Zone; Julia finally pulling in the driveway with the RAM at around 4:30 PM. She had purchased quite a bit of stuff… “Mostly items for me!”
I think I’m going to need an extra dresser, just for the new shorts and jeans she bought me, and perhaps and extra closet for the shirts she found for me as well. I was surprised at how little she had gotten for herself.
When I commented about that she gave me a big hug and kiss before saying, “I have what I need right here.” She then just stood there holding on to me, resting her head on my shoulder.
“Are you alright?” I asked her. She kissed me again saying, “I’m just tired. It’s been a really good day. But…” Her voice trailed off at that point.
“Did this morning’s therapy session…?” I started to ask when she abruptly cut me off with a swift kiss, giggling as she did so. It was a very long and passionate one, which I’m pretty sure came from somewhere beyond her toes.
“Always the perceptive one,” she said. “Yes. It was a difficult session. But my therapist and I got through all that I needed to. It was draining. But it was productive and helpful.”
She then continued, “Lunch was fun with the girls and so was shopping with them, too. They all helped pick out stuff for you.,” she said. “I think they’d steal you if I let them,” she added. “They really like you.”
She then helped me put things away. There was no need to try anything on as she knows the sizes of the brands that I wear. She informed me as we worked that a pizza delivery was coming from Dominick’s and a few minutes later… Yeah… Just after we finished up, the guy making the delivery pulled into our driveway, as if on cue.
After we ate and cleaned up, she went into her study to do some journaling and stuff. So… I worked more on the project for my client; them having provided me with all of the audio video, and text they needed turned into a video they could stream from their website.
But… When my wife asks for quality time… “Only a fool would say no to a request like that!”
It was an intensely pleasant few hours and she’s now fast asleep; her having drifted off trying to say something that started to sound like the beginning of… Well… Yeah… I think it was, “I love you.”
