“Babe, will you lay flat for me? Yeah… Just like that. Perfect.”
I was half awake and didn’t have a clue as to what was going on. As I struggled to recall a rather intense dream involving Julia, I realized as I shifted that it had been a wet one too. The curious thing was… Well… The dream seemed to be restarting again, “In reality.”
As I felt her move into position on top of me, she breathed in my ear, “Just do what you dreamt about doing with me before I woke you. It will be fine. I promise it will be awesomely fine.”
When I looked at her questioningly, she giggled and said, “Go with what you remember. I’ll help you fill in the blanks. This is going to be wonderful.”
She wasn’t wrong. And… The shower we took together after was an event to behold too. But I don’t think that was a part of the dream. I can’t be sure though. But I’m certainly not complaining.
We headed to Burger King for breakfast at around 8:00 AM and hit Weis to pick up some stuff we needed for the house. We ran into Ellen there and the ladies had a good time shopping; chatting away as we moved through the aisles together.
Julia always has a way of making sure I don’t get edged out of a conversation, which is kind of nice. No woman has ever extended me that kind of curtesy until she came along and to me, “That means a lot.”
She got laughing one time when she saw the look of amazement on my face when I went to say something and was cut off for the third time during a family gathering. At that point she stopped the individual, who was a member of my own family and said to them laughing, “You know? I do believe all the adults are present including the uniquely abled more intelligent ones.”
She then gave my hand a squeeze while still laughing and said warmly, “What was that you wanted to say Brian?” Julia then adding, “Hello? You’re not dreaming. You have a write to be heard.”
You could have heard a pin drop for about five seconds in that room, everyone looking at Julia like she’d grown an extra head. But… The girl just handled things in stride, using a few tricks of her trade to drive the point home to everyone else that, “Brian isn’t a second-class citizen.”
And… Even when out with other people she knows well and likes, no matter how engrossed she seems to be in a conversation, she’s always letting me know that she’s totally aware of my presence. “It’s priceless.”
Once we were all done shopping, Julia and I headed home, pulling in the driveway as the snow started falling. “We’ll deal with it tomorrow, Babe. Don’t worry about heading out later to do anything about the sidewalks and all that. Just let nature run its course. You might actually be pleasantly surprised as to what can happen when you let nature have her way with you,” Julia then finished with a sly tone in her voice before getting out of the Ram and starting to take groceries out of the back.
Once we got everything inside, we had a quick lunch before she headed into her study to virtually work with clients. As for me? It was, “Updating Websites We Go!”
After dinner I looked up from my position on the couch sensing someone on the property. Julia said chuckling playfully, “They’re supposed to be here. They are taking care of our snow removal this winter. Think of it at an early Christmas treat.”
