“Good morning my love. Is it me or are we sleeping harder and waking up earlier every day?”
I heard these words floating through the darkness to me as I returned to bed from the bathroom at around 3:00 AM this morning. Then I felt a very familiar set of hands pulling me towards their owner. There were slow gentle kisses all over my body after that and… Well… You can guess what happened.
We officially got out of bed at five and did the morning routine. But we also took a little time to note a few other things that seemed to be working in our favor.
Daily sex was making sex in general better than ever. It was helping both of us manage stress like rock stars and made sleeping at night restful, even if we only truly slept for three to five hours.
Julia commented, “I’m starting to think that the science of sleep is nothing short of bullshit. Donald Trump only sleeps for about four to five hours a night; saying so in his The Art of The Deal book and that works just fine for him. I really think that people like The Donald don’t have problems with what science would call an inadequate amount of sleep because they have things to look forward to doing, even if it is just their spouse.”
Julia gave me a light playful kiss after she finished speaking and we both started laughing. Julia then continued, “It’s almost like someone doesn’t want people to know the truth. It really all does come down to mind over matter. Everyone is built differently.”
Julia then continued, “I sometimes think that words like insomnia are a disservice to people because they only add a negative connotation to the below average hours of sleep some people actually thrive health wise and otherwise upon. Why people have to be brainwashed into thinking three hours of sleep isn’t enough is beyond me when there’s really no truth to it.”
She then added, “I know that you got up and did some exercises at 2:00 AM this morning before trying to go back to sleep. And… There’s nothing wrong with that because you have instinctually figured out how to make your own body relax. You also were listening to some music for a little while with headphones as you lay next to your wife as she pretended to sleep.”
Julia then gave my hand a playful squeeze as we sat talking on the couch in her study. “And… It goes without saying that some nights a body will sleep more than others. But just because it doesn’t sleep the same amount every night doesn’t mean it’s broken,” Julia said.
“You are smart to handle things the way you do. You have the right idea,” Julia finished.
“So, what’s your solution?” I asked Julia as I felt her hand inching down my thigh. Julia said, “Start teaching people to forget what they’ve been told about sleep and how to decide for themselves what is the right amount of sleep for them.”
Julia made her move and… Well… “It was a fun easy-going day after that.”
