I’m Building Upon Keystone Habits with Julia.

I slept soundly last night and this morning I woke in a haze at some point. I couldn’t quite wrap my head around what was happening but, the kisses felt nice and when the alarm went off at 5 AM, I found myself laying astride Julia with my head resting on her chest.

I moved gently off to the edge of the bed and heard soft laughter behind me as I rose. “I’d wake up before I take that first step,” Julia said warmly.

That’s when I put my hand out and realized that the bathroom was in the opposite direction. I turned and walked around the bed and Julia greeted me with open arms on the other side and walked with me to the bathroom doorway.

When I emerged, Julia went in next kissing me lightly in passing and saying, “It’s all good. You slept hard and rightfully so after yesterday.”

When she came out, we did our exercises while the coffee pot did it’s thing. And… Before hitting our studies to write and stuff we sat in the kitchen for a few minutes just drinking in the caffeine and silence as Julia held my free hand with hers.

Once our morning routine was done, we met in the shower, having fun soaping each other up. Then Julia gave me a bit of a surprise when she said, “I’ve cancelled my session with my therapist this morning and have rescheduled a double session with them for next Saturday, instead. It’s all good,” she added warmly.

“I just felt that I’d rather stay close to you today after…” Her voice trailed off and I gently pulled her too me and just held on for a long while.

“You look really out of it this morning Babe,” Julia said after a long silence. “Why don’t we just listen to some music or something in the living room on the couch. Maybe we could watch the latest Ancient Aliens episode on Prime?”

I nodded and Julia kissed me saying, “You did a really great thing yesterday. You scared the living hell out of me doing it. But I’m glad you had the courage to step in. Otherwise…”

I felt a shiver run through her body and gave her hands a gentle squeeze saying, “It wasn’t her time, or mine. I did what I was built to do.”

“They taught you well,” Julia breathed softly. “They taught you really well.”

So, we spent the rest of the morning watching Ancient Aliens Mystery of the Lost Civilization and it was pretty good. Then Julia put on some soft Jazz, and I think I might have walked right into the trap she laid for me with that because, next thing I know, two and a half hours had passed.

I felt a hand on my shoulder when my eyes opened and realized that Julia was kneeling on the floor next to the couch looking at me. “That’s better,” she said warmly. “You look much better now.” She then kissed me deeply and said, “Let’s go get something for Lunch at Friendly’s and then maybe hit the rail trails for a walk.”

So… That’s what we did. It really was a nice sunny day, too!
