“You do more than enough. Way more than I could have ever dreamed for me. And other people… Well… If they can’t appreciate you and respect your feelings… ‘That’s their problem’.”
I opened my eyes and gave myself a few seconds for my sluggish brain to catch up to what was happening in the real world. I felt warm. I felt relaxed. I felt Julia’s body covering me like a blanket as she spoke.
“You were talking in your sleep,” she said when she saw that I was actually conscious. She then laughed and kissed me saying, “Nothing bad. You didn’t give away any government secrets, either.”
She giggled and kissed me again saying, “And… It is true. You do way more for others than anyone could ever have the right to expect, and if all they can do is pile more on you, than you do have every right to walk away.”
She then kissed me again before resting her head on my chest and hugging me with her entire body. I think I drifted off for a while because the next thing I know… Well… “It felt nice.”
When we did finally get around, we just had a nice slow easy day. Julia told me that she had taken a few notes on what I was saying in my sleep and offered to read them out for me so I could add them to my journal if I wanted. “You speak so clearly in that state. It just seemed like such a waste not to capture the moment,” she said.
And… “Are those all the notes you have written down Julia?” I asked teasingly. “I can feel the heat from over here so I’m thinking that’s a no.”
Julia said, “It’s just that, even in your sleep, you’ve got a way of making your wife feel special and doubtless as to whether or not she’s wanted. I couldn’t resist.”
I smiled and typed as she read her notes out in my study. When she offered to share her other notes with me, I said, “If it makes you happy, I’m cool with you keeping those to yourself.” I then added playfully, “They must be really juicy because I can feel you blushing from over here.”
I then changed the subject, saying, “I wonder how that new Kindle book I put online is doing.” She said, “Let’s check it out!”
When I logged into Kindle to check on the book’s sales, I felt my jaw actually drop in surprise. Julia who had been sitting on the couch behind me as I typed had come to stand next to me so she could see the monitor. She said breathlessly, “Wow… That’s a perfect example of you Definitely doing more than enough.”
She then grabbed onto the back of my chair to steady herself and asked, “We’re both awake, right?” I nodded and replied, “Dare we check on your online project?”
She said, “Sure. But I doubt it’s going to be anything like …” She broke off as I accessed the server records to her meditation site. “Well honey, surf is up. And… Yes… The numbers where the curser is right now are the legitimate visitors.”
She then ran into her study and fired up her machine. When she came back a minute later, she was glowing. “I’ve got a ton of thankyou emails and the financial report shows quite a few purchased downloads were made within the last 12 hours. This is incredible. It’s like we won the lottery!”
She then came back over to me and said, “You helped with this. You helped with all of this. Thank you.”
I stood and gave her a hug. There really wasn’t anything I could say verbally, and Julia knew that, her seeming to feel the same way.
After a time, we moved over to the couch and after a time later we… Well… There is power in words. But sometimes, words just can’t do the job in the way we need them too.
We ordered in for dinner and Julia fell asleep on the couch in the living room while we were watching a video. I silently slipped out when I knew she wouldn’t be awakening any time soon and went back into my study to do a review of the past week’s accomplishments.
When I returned to the living room, she was still sound asleep. So, I carried her off to bed with me, where we both slept rather soundly all through the night.
