I Am Worthy of Gifts from Julia.

We awoke at one point this morning to the sound of peaceful rainfall. We usually keep a window in the bedroom cracked to insure at least a little fresh air in the house, even during the winter months. And this morning, at 4:00 AM, the sound was rather hypnotic.

We finally got up at around 9:00 AM, which is a bit unusual. I think the late night and early morning activities caught up with both of us. So… Yeah… Unusual, “But not unexpected!”

We took our time getting round and didn’t get done showering and dressing until after noontime. Then, we decided that since the weather was absolute crap, we would finish reading Atlantis Found, by Clive Cussler, and clean the bathrooms in the house a bit.

For dinner, a pizza from Dominick’s here in Newton NJ seemed in order. We got a couple of salads to go with the pizza and afterwards… Well… I got a bit of a surprise from Julia. “She handed me a box!”

“Would you be a dear and open that up for me?” she asked quietly in my study after dinner. I was on the computer at that point looking at new iPhones, having discovered that my iPhone 7 wasn’t going to be included in the upgrade to IOS 16.

I nodded somewhat distractedly, and she placed it on the desk in front of me. Thinking she was just having trouble with the packaging; I took the box and opened it up and handed it back to her.

She then asked, “Could you be so kind as to take out what’s inside it?” There was a tone of amusement in her voice at this point.

So, after giving her a somewhat confused look, I took out the contents of the box saying, “Oh cool. You got yourself a new iPhone.” I then felt a hand gently resting on my shoulder as she leaned down and seductively breathed in my ear, “Would you be so kind as to activate that phone on ‘your’ Verizon account?”

“I’m sorry? What did you just say Julia?” I asked. She laughed softly pushing my desk chair back from the desk with me in it. Julia then sat down on my lap as she put her arms around me and kissed me long and passionately before saying, “I’m pretty sure you heard me the first time my love.”

She then giggled and added, “Even successful Self Publishers are worthy of a gift now and again, too.” She then added laughing, “If you could see the look on your face right now.”

After a little time cuddling in the chair, she stood up again and said, “I’m going to be in my study doing some journaling and prep for the week ahead. I’m sure you know what you have to do with the phones to get the new one fired up. But if you need help with that or anything else…”

She leaned down and whispered in my ear before kissing me again, “It doesn’t have to be done tonight. I know that transferring stuff takes time. I’ll meet you in the bedroom later.”

After she headed out, I picked up my phone and checked the boxes on stuff I wouldn’t normally have backed up into iCloud storage. Then I turned my attention to other things knowing the phone should be ready for deactivation by morning.

I then did a review of the past week checking off all of my accomplishments and seeing what still remained to be done. Much to my surprise, “All that I had set out to do was achieved.”

Then I sat down to see if there was any chance that WordPress could handle a playlist without plugins. I was doubtful that this could be achieved but… I was determined. And… By the time I climbed into bed with Julia, “I had an answer!”

At first, I thought she was sleeping. But after a moment, I felt hands moving towards me under the blankets. “Are you over your shock?” she asked me, her voice trembling with silent laughter.

“Yes,” I replied. “And… Uh… Now… I think it is time I got over my awe too and gave you a proper thank you.”

“No thanks required,” she whispered. “You deserve it.”

She then pulled me closer to her and kissed me passionately, clearly yet wordlessly indicating her desire for another blissful night of pleasure and sleep. “God is good!”
