I’m Capable Enough for A Real Woman.

Well… I did quite a bit of posting on one of my personal sites today, and I’m pleased with the results. It also looks like I’ve got another PC repair job coming up… But I’ll no more about that in a few days. “At the very least I’ll be seeing a small check for the consulting I did with regard to the matter.”

Julia went to work at her office in town this morning. But she came home for lunch with lunch; her turning my offer of cooking down. But she did assure me that she’ll be taking me up on it over the weekend, as she’s got a few steaks in the freezer she’d like to have us sink our teeth into. For some reason she seems to be under the illusion that the steak always comes out better when I cook it. But… “That’s fine by me!”

She then went back to work, asking if I could meet her at the office around 5:00 PM to help her out with a few things of a technical nature. So… After taking a bunch more stuff I’d written and posted online, I knocked off around 3:30 PM to start getting ready to make the trip.

Factoring in rush hour traffic on a workday, plus the fact that the snow we got yesterday was turning into a block of ice that no amount of rock salt had a prayer of conquering given the temperature outside… And… Uh… Um… Yeah… “I was planning on taking my time.”

But… I got there without incident and 20 minutes to spare. So… I quietly let myself into the building that we own; us leasing our empty offices two a few other businesses, which has been working out really well for us and them. Apparently there just aren’t that many buildings in town you can get office space in that are maintained as well as we do ours. So… Needless to say, once an office in our building is rented, “It stays rented.”

While I waited, I slipped into the small office behind the reception counter and found what I was looking for. “The coffee Maker!”

It had something in it that resembled engine oil. So, having about a half cup of that stuff, I set about making a fresh pot in the small kitchen area we have tucked into the side of the reception room. If you were walking up to the counter from the waiting room, you’d be hard pressed to see it there.

It’s nothing special, just a small marble topped kitchen counter, complete with wall cabinets and sink, everything set into the wall where an old closet used to be. We just wanted something functional for making coffee, rinsing out cups, and little things like that. There’s a small microwave in one of the cabinets we take out and set up on the counter when we need it. But with the coffee maker already taking up space on one side of the sink… Well… “You get the idea.”

After Julia was done with her last client, she walked the young woman out to where her mother was waiting for her; parked in the lot out front.

When she came back in, she said, “Someone’s here early and… Is that fresh coffee brewing?” She then gave me a big hug and whispered, “Yes!”

“Long day I take it?” She gave my hand a squeeze in reply, which generally means, “Yes.”

She then called and placed an order with A&G Pizza, and they said they’d be by in about 45 minutes. While we waited, I had her show me what she needed help with.

It turned out to be a sluggish computer on the internet, it taking forever to even do something as simple as access an email using Outlook. The Modem was working ok. The router was doing ok. The other computers we set up for the practice were all running as they should.

But the one machine in her personal office… Well… “It had issues.”

So… After doing some poking around, I reset the wireless adapter in the computer and cleared out the browser cache, which then resulted in the machine coming back to life upon restart. It took less than twenty minutes to check everything and get the box back on track.

After that, I helped her clean the place up a bit. Yeah… There’s a cleaning crew that comes through about once a week. But… “We know how to vacuum too.” They can do the really fun stuff like, “Clean the toilet,” the next time they come in.

Julia thinks it’s funny when I stop by and clean the windows for some reason. But… She’s never had a complaint with my work, which might have something to do with the amusement she feels. “Can’t sighted people clean windows properly?”

When our food order arrived, we ate back in her office. Then, after turning out some lights and stuff, home we went.

We spent the rest of the evening reading and watching a few odds and ends on TV; me being alerted to the fact that Julia had fallen asleep when the hard covered book she was reading thudded to the floor. She’s still out cold in the recliner. But… I’ll collect her on my way into the bedroom.

I won’t wake her up. That would be mean. With her build she’s easy to carry and, as I may have mentioned before, “I kind of like tucking her in.” And… Yeah… I think too she might appreciate it, “Just a little.”
