New pillows on our bed made for an extra deep sleep last night. I thought the old pillows were fine but… Julia knows better about this stuff than I do. And… “Then there were the new sheets!”
I was fine with the old sheets, too. But… Julia said it was high time to let those go, as well. And… We had them for quite some time.
Now that I think about it, it’s a wonder the Walmart Specials lasted as long as they did. We do tend to need to wash our sheets a lot for some strange reason. “Maybe it’s the thriving sex life that has something to do with that?”
But… This morning I couldn’t help reveling in the feel of new linens and fluffy pillows. And then there’s Julia. Somehow, I’ve got a funny feeling that even waking up on a concrete floor in Siberia with her in my arms would feel like paradise. But… “I can’t say I want to try that any time soon.”
She asked me over coffee this morning if I’d be interested in going to a seminar on dreams in Manhattan with her. She told me it would be an all-day event. But she figured we could make a whole weekend out of it if we wanted.
Apparently, it wouldn’t be until March some time. But… She thought she could benefit from it and thought I might like to tag along. So… I said, “Yes.”
She was pretty pleased about that and said she’d get the ball rolling. I asked her to email me the particulars so I could look for a hotel in the area; figuring that since this seminar was going to be on a Saturday, we could head into the city Friday afternoon and head home Sunday afternoon, or early evening. Of course, there’s always a chance COVID might throw a wrench in things but… “We’re optimists!”
While Julia was working from her study today, I did more posting to my blog and checked up on a few client’s websites to make sure things were running as they should there. I heard from my brother today, too. We didn’t talk long. But it’s always good to know the South Dakota faction is still alive and kicking. He did need a minor change made to a post on his site for the shop. So… That was taken care of in about… “One minute.” Or… Was it two?
Anyhow… I did finally hear back from one Mr. Nick Kapetanakis with the Disability Services Advisory Council here in Sussex County and can’t say that his first email left me feeling all that confident. As it was, I hadn’t heard a word from him regarding the matter I contacted him about since December 16, 2021. So, when the first email rolled through at 10:37 AM; him apologizing for not getting back to me sooner and saying he was having difficulty with understanding who would be responsible for enforcing handicapped parking on apartment complex property… Well… all I could think was… Um… “You do what for the county again?”
But… He did redeem himself at 12:55 PM with his second email; him stating that the best person to contact with regard to the matter I reached out to him about would be Bernard Hattersley at the Town of Newton. Apparently, Bernard is the Code Enforcement Director for the Town and would have a better understanding of the rules that the property owners in town need to follow in order to be compliant with local, state and federal regulations. And… Yes. “He did provide all relevant contact information.”
Whether Bernard’s understanding applies to a matter involving handicapped parking on an apartment complex, plus the encroachment of parking spaces on fire zones at same said complex… “We shall see.”
My guess is that Bernard already knows I’m going to come calling, so to speak. But… knowing the nature of the beast as I do… In this case local and county government being the beast… I’m just going to sit on this one for a little while to insure I’m not blown off and things actually get done like they are supposed to be done.
I shared the emails with Julia while we were making dinner and she seems to think I’m going about things the wrong way. But… She also knows that in certain situations a little creative footwork needs to be done in order to guarantee that certain matters involving safety and disability get taken care of before they can get swept under the rug by corrupt people. And… She’s certainly noticed that COVID is definitely being used as an excuse for government and business owners alike to do some pretty crappy things behind the scenes. That’s, “From her point of view,” of course.
Me? I see it that way too. But I’m not above using a little Remote Influencing to get the matter I contacted Nick about resolved. So… We’ll just have to stay in the flow and see what pops with that situation. And… If the deer in a certain official’s neighborhood develop the habit of repeatedly jumping through his living room window because things got swept under the rug… Well… “I guess that just couldn’t be helped.”
After dinner Julia and I stretched out facing each other on the living room sofa. I listened to a book on my computer via Bluetooth headphones while rubbing her feet. While I was doing that Julia read through a few of her magazine subscriptions she gets in the snail mail.
Before we knew it 9:00 PM was staring us straight in the face. So… Julia headed off to take a bath and I am now finishing up writing in here.
Actually… Right now? I hear the pitter patter of feet coming down the hall as I write this final line. It sounds like someone is done with their bath and has come to collect me for bed so, “I’m off!”
