I Am Always There for My Significant Other.

Today was a pretty slow and lazy one. We slept in late and decided to take a walk over to Newtonian Gardens and back. “It was kind of cold out!”

Once we got back to our house, we decided to go through the guest house out back and make sure things were tidy there. I like to use it as a place for working meditations from time to time and generally make it a point to run a vacuum whenever I’m there, give the toilet a quick scrub and that kind of thing. Julia was quite pleased with the look of things and after about ten minutes just running a dust cloth over some things she said, “You’ve pretty much been keeping up with it so there’s not much for me to do.”

I could tell by her tone she was smiling as she came up to me gently taking my hand and pulling me towards the door saying, “Lets go back in the house. I’ve got a little job I could use your help with before we hit the Hampton Diner for an early dinner.”

Her little job turned out to be putting a new office chair together that she’d ordered from Amazon. She had most of it assembled but needed an extra set of hands to get some of the bolts to line up and go into their allotted holes without cross threading. It took less than five minutes to finish up what she’d done a good job with already. Having an unusual amount of strength in my hands, long fingers, and a level of sensitivity possessed by a very few; it all kind of makes these types of projects easier for me. Julia really appreciated the help, too, and didn’t feel put out in the slightest when I sat down on the floor and started running my hands over things to see what needed to go where; popping in the remaining screws with relative ease as she passed me screws, tools, and described what she was seeing in the directions. When I was finished and she was surveying our handywork she slyly said, “Did I say I needed extra hands? I think what I really meant was I need your long fingered powerful hands.”

She then moved close to me and gave me a big hug and kiss; one of her many ways of wordlessly saying thank you. We then took her old chair out to the garage so we could dispose of it the next time we loaded up the bed of the Dodge with stuff for the landfill over in Branchville. And… Since it was sitting right there, we fired up the truck and headed out to the Diner.

Our waitress, Kat, seemed to be having a bit of a rough day and she certainly had her hands full at one point; the place being super busy and she being the only one waiting tables. From what Julia tells me, the young lady had a bit of a meltdown in the lady’s room while they were talking; the stress Kat was experiencing between work and home getting to her a bit. But… She seemed much better, even to me, when the ladies came out of the bathroom together while I finished up paying Bono for our dinner at the register.

Julia told me on our way back home about their conversation a bit as she drove. “I told her we noticed she seemed a bit stressed,” Julia said, “And I let her know that we get it and really appreciate the way she takes care of us when we come in.”

Julia then continued, “She got a little weepy at that so I just stopped talking and gave her a hug; letting her hang on for a few minutes until she relaxed and could pull herself together.” I commented, “Well, a hug from you is something special and enough to pull anyone together.” She reached over with one hand while on a straightaway and gave my leg a squeeze at that point as she softly said, “I love you Babe. Thank you.”

We drove the rest of the way home in silence and once in the house, she headed off to do some reading while I settled down to do a meditation in my study. It was a long meditation, me working it for at least two hours. I must have dosed off towards the end though because the next thing I knew, there was this freshly showered Goddess bending over me as I lay stretched out on my study’s couch; lightly kissing my lips and saying, “I’m going to crash. Are you ok?” I reached up and lightly touched Julia’s cheek and nodded. “Yes,” I whispered. She then gave my hand a gentle squeeze and said, “I’ll see you in a few. I love you.”

It took me a few minutes to pull my brain out of the fog and sit down to write this. But… It is now time to go and be there for the one who is so often there for everyone else, without ever asking for a thing in return. And… Yeah… When she starts saying, “I love you,” to me more than just now and then, it’s usually an indication that she’s feeling a bit down or simply emotionally wiped out.

So… If it’s my company the lady wants, “My company the lady shall get.” I don’t think I’ve given her a good full body massage in a while. Maybe that will help. If not… Well… Sometimes all she really needs from me is just to feel my arms gently wrapped around her as she drifts off to sleep. What will work for her tonight? “We shall see.”
