After I changed the sheets on our bed and got out of the shower, Julia was still out cold on the couch. When I gently lifted her up and began carrying her into the bedroom she did Stir slightly. But she dropped off again after I had set her down on the bed and pulled up the covers for her.
I decided to leave her silk bathrobe on, not wishing to disrupt her sleep any more than necessary. I supposed that most husbands would have just left their wives sleeping where they were. But… As Julia herself has stated on many occasions to more folks than just me, “Brian isn’t most husbands.”
When she did awaken to use the bathroom at 3:45 AM this morning, she slipped it off when she got back into bed; Julia contentedly curling her naked body up against mine and kissing me once lightly before drifting off again. After yesterday’s activities though, “I’m not surprised.”
When we did awaken this morning I slipped out of bed and got the coffee maker started. When I came back in the bedroom she was still in bed, just chilling. I wordlessly walked over to her and kissed her saying, “Happy Valentine’s Day. Your coffee will be arriving soon.”
We don’t make a big deal out of Valentines Day in this house. As Julia puts it, “Every day is as special as we can make it around here,” which is true. Yeah… We do acknowledge the day. We just don’t feel that it warrants the kind of attention that something like Christmas, New Year’s, our anniversary or birthday’s would.
Of course, that didn’t stop me from changing the startup Microsoft logo to something a little different on Julia’s computer before I went to sleep last night. And… Yeah… When she saw it this morning as she sat down to get ready for her first virtual session, I am pretty sure that half the neighborhood heard her shout of laughter and, “Mr. Brian Schnabel! Get your ass in here!”
When I walked into her study and asked as innocently as I could, “What’s up honey?” Julia stood up from her desk and gave me a huge hug and kiss. Then she grabbed my shoulders and shaking with laughter just looked at me for a long moment before saying, “The naked man holding the sign that says Happy Valentine’s Day looks really cute on my windows startup screen. Thank you.”
She then gave me another long kiss before giggling and saying, “Just don’t do that to the computers in my office in town, ok?” She then said, “It’s not that I’d mind. But many of my clients are pretty depressed around this time of year and… Well… You know…” She then broke off to kiss me again before continuing, “You might end up with stalkers if the wrong client saw how good looking you are naked and I’d rather keep you to myself if you don’t mind. Does that make me selfish?”
I shook my head and kissed her back saying, “No. I feel the exact same way about you. Now get ready to do your thing and I’ll catch up with you around lunch time.”
The rest of the day cranked along for both of us, the time we spent working seeming to just fly by. We then hit Jumboland for dinner and Sharon took good care of us while we were there. We both really like the place and the employees there seem happy doing what they do. “We always feel a really good vibe every time we go.”
When we got home Julia asked in a shy voice, “Is it ok if we just sit together for a while? I’d really just like it if you held me. I’m a bit… Well… After yesterday I’m uh…” I gave her a hug and finished the sentence for her by saying, “Sore in places. I get it. It’s all good.”
She then said, “Thank you,” in a small voice and kissed me lightly on the lips before taking my hand and walking with me to the living room couch. We sat relaxing for a long time just listening to some classical music via Alexa on our stereo system. Then Julia and I took a bath together before she headed off to wrap up a few loose ends from her work day in the study.
And… Uh… You know? I think I’ll be the one to wait for her to join me in bed tonight. I’m pretty sure she’ll appreciate that little bit of change in the usual routine. So, “Off I go!”
