“That new tag line you’ve got going on is brilliant my love. But you are trying way too hard.”
I spun round in my chair at the above words to find Julia standing behind me looking over my shoulder at my computer monitor. She gently touched my face before leaning down to kiss me lightly just prior to warmly saying, “It’s 3:00 AM. Come keep a pretty girl company in her bed?”
She then laughed saying, “I can see that you had no idea of the time.” And with that she gently motioned with my hand in hers towards the door. “Enough self-torture for one night. Give it a rest for now.”
I quietly rose and followed her back into the bedroom. There, she gently helped me out of my bathrobe and insisted on covering me up with the blankets before walking around to her side of the bed and climbing in. “You stay put,” I heard her say in a soft firm tone. She didn’t sound pissed. Just determined.
I felt a hand moving towards me between the sheets and… Well… That’s the last thing I remember until 10:00 AM this morning.
When I opened my eyes, I found Julia sitting on the edge of the bed next to me gently running her fingers through my hair. “I checked out some of your handywork online from early this morning while you were sleeping, and I really do like the tagline on that site I found you working with. But… Why did you kill the LinkedIn account you set up only yesterday?”
I started to sit up, but she placed a hand on my shoulder saying, “It’s Saturday and we don’t have to do anything today. It’s all good my love.” She then paused and said, “Now about this LinkedIn thing. I’m kind of curious. You don’t usually trash what you’ve worked so hard on putting together. So… Uh… What’s up with that?”
I lay there looking up at her saying, “It didn’t feel right. That’s the best I can tell you.”
She then told me, “Scooch over,” as she moved to lay with me on my side of the bed. She then started rubbing my chest asking, “When will you learn to trust yourself? You know that your dreams and intuition are rock solid. Why kill yourself second guessing what you already know deep down is a done deal? In another nine days things will be cleared up with the search engines and your sights lost from the index will return. You know that. Why not trust that?”
She then kissed me lightly and waited. “I guess because I’m always wondering if there’s something I’ve missed. Maybe I don’t know all that I need to about Search Engine Optimization because something’s changed?” I replied.
“Well,” she began, “There’s nothing wrong with wanting to stay current in one’s own industry. But when it becomes a worry that drags you out of bed at 12:45 AM…” She paused to kiss me again, accenting her point.
I nodded and she giggled playfully saying, “I do love your dedication and determination Babe. I really do. But you know what the outcome will be in another nine days. Give things a chance to gel. Rome wasn’t built in a day. You’ve got this. You’re on the ball as much as you’re going to be. But if you start going about everything with the intensity I found you working at this morning you are going to burn yourself out.”
I nodded again saying, “Point taken,” and gave her a gentle squeeze. She then slid on top of me, so we were eye to eye and said, “I do get it. You want to keep the ball rolling without any breaks in its progress. But it really is ok if there are breaks in the progress. You are doing well. And… If you find yourself thinking you need to get out of bed at 1:00 AM in the morning to do something… You are always welcome to do me.”
She then giggled like a teenager in high school about to ask a boy to the senior prom before making her move and… Uh… Well… “What a move it was!”
When we did get out of bed, we took a shower together and then finished reading the rest of Ingo Swann’s book. “I don’t believe that everyone can see into the future with regular frequency. And… I’m not really sure that any one set of techniques will help people acquire or reactivate their mind’s ability to see the future. I know I can’t use the same technique to help each client who comes into my office and I’m pretty sure that when it comes to enhancing one’s ESP, no one technique will fit everyone either.,” Julia commented at one point.
She then continued, “But… The way Ingo presents things does make one think. And… Thinking is always a good thing, especially when it’s the kind that inspires us to improve ourselves.”
Before the night was over… Yeah… We did finish the book. We didn’t get anything else done. But… It is what it is and, “It was enjoyable!”
