I’m Appreciated for My Technical Skills.

I use a Blue Yeti microphone. I understand that Logitech owns them now, which would probably explain why the Logitech G HUB software works with this microphone so well. “More on that in a second.”

They’re good microphones for doing podcasting, like what I’m doing now; making Skype calls, Alexa calls, and all that good stuff. They sound really good, and they work really well.

“However…” I guess the roar of frustration I heard come out of my wife’s study was warranted because, after updating her computer to Windows 11, I accidentally forgot to put the Logitech G HUB software back into her computer so it would update the firmware in the microphone. And… After the latest Windows 11 Cumulative Update… The firmware in the microphone needed to be updated because… Well… Let’s just say that using the built-in sound card in the microphone becomes a bit of a problem since the latest Cumulative Windows 11 Update cut the volume output of said soundcard in half.

So… You could hear yourself talk through the microphone with headphones on. But you could not really hear anything else that was going on with the computer. Like… If you’re a therapist and you’re trying to make a call so you can conduct a virtual session with a client.

So, my wife being a therapist and getting ready to conduct a virtual session with a client, she was just a wee bit frustrated when she ran into the volume problem with the microphone that I just described during a test of the system before making a call. And… Julia’s frustration was warranted and stupidity on my part.

When I update a computer, I normally take all the nonessential software out that I deem as a potential hazard to doing an upgrade from, in this case, Windows 10 to Windows 11. So, apps like the Alexa app and Logitech software disappear from the operating system for a little while until I am certain that everything is running true, and all is in order.

I’m generally pretty good at putting things back together. But obviously I missed something on the check list. So, when I heard her yell, “What the hell is wrong with this damn microphone!” I knew immediately what the problem was and took a walk from my study to hers to correct it.

It was a solution that came none too soon because she started her first virtual session of the day with only seconds to spare. But she really appreciated it and let me know she appreciated it with a quick kiss before I went back to do my thing.

Over the course of the day, things went pretty smoothly after that, us taking a lunch break at Friendly’s, where we kind of got a pleasant surprise. “Victoria was there!”

Victoria has always given us excellent service. We thought she was gone. We hadn’t seen her since… Well… For a long time. Well over a year.

But a lot of people have left their former places of employment after the pandemic caused a lockdown here in New Jersey. So not seeing people you used to is just kind of par for the course these days. But she was there and explained to us that she was saving up for her wedding; working a full-time job plus one day a week at Friendly’s to help them out and herself out. She made no bones about that. It’s extra cash she can set aside for the wedding. “That’s cool!”

She’s always been really nice to us and today was no exception. Of course, we appreciated that and might have slipped a little extra in the tip just to help the wedding fund along, “If you know what I mean?”

When we got home, it started to rain outside. All hell broke loose… Thunder… Lightning… Rain… And it was windy as all hell. We were just kind of glad we didn’t have to go anywhere.

So, we just chilled and hung out taking care of mundane stuff that goes along with running a business, “I.E. Paperwork!” And… Ah… It was cool. You know?

At 5:00 PM we knocked off for dinner. Nothing extravagant, just a couple of salads. I had a little bit of Jack to go with mine and Julia opted for a glass of wine to go with hers.

After that, we intended to just chill in the living room. We watched an episode of Oak Island. The latest episode. They still haven’t found anything yet. But maybe they will. I mean, it looks promising and all the information they have indicates that there’s something definitely there, even though some of the information has been derived from… Shall we say, “Experimental sources?” But it’s information none the less and all information is useful.

But… Anyway… Towards the end of the episode I guess the attention kind of started to wander and we kind of got a little frisky with each other and… Let’s just say, “She’s totally spent on the bed, in the bedroom, and I should probably get my ass back there before she wakes up and realizes that I left to come write this.”
